چکیده

Compared with other Mesozoic tetrapod groups, chigutisaurid fossils from Australia are rare, only three named taxa described the continent. From Queensland, Keratobrachyops australis is known Triassic, and Siderops kehli Jurassic. Koolasuchus cleelandi, Cretaceous of Victoria, represents youngest-known temnospondyl globally. Here we describe first New South Wales, Early–Middle Triassic Terrigal Formation. The specimen (AM F125866) comprises an articulated, near-complete skeleton, presented in ventral aspect, as well outlines soft tissue. new taxon preserves features that indicate affinity Chigutisauridae, confirming previous hypotheses on presence large-bodied chigutisaurids Australia. second Lower fourth overall. distribution brachycephalic temnospondyls throughout suggests specific adaptations led to long-term survival chigutisaurids, especially across end-Triassic extinction event.
